Nestled in the beautiful foothills of the Adirondack Mountains, the Dolgeville Central School District is comprised of 186 square miles of rural land in two counties, several townships, and the Village of Dolgeville. In the 1980’s, the District annexed the adjacent Stratford Central School District, creating the boundaries of the District as they exist today. The town and school are named from the German industrialist Alfred Dolge, who was the president of the School Society when the first public school was erected in Dolgeville in 1887. Mr. Dolge’s educational philosophy included, in addition to academics, emphases on citizenship, physical fitness, and the arts, and his timeless vision of “Sending All Students into the World Well Prepared” remains the vision of the District to this day.
Dolgeville Central School’s high school, middle school, and elementary school occupy one campus- style building. Built in the late 1950’s, the original high school building has been enlarged and improved through several capital projects with the addition of many classrooms, a music suite and an auditorium in the late 1960s, the addition of the elementary school building and second gymnasium after the annexation in the mid-1980s, and the addition of four classrooms, an 8-lane track and softball field in the 1990s. Most recently, the District completed a $8.7 million capital project that included complete renovation of many sections of our campus.
Dolgeville’s academic achievement and success begins with a strong kindergarten program and that continues throughout middle and high school. Teamwork between home and school is vital to the success of our school. Our district’s technology features a robust campus-wide wireless network, SMART and/or Cleartouch technologies in all classrooms, several computer labs, and a one to one device initiative to enhance student learning. Students have access to a wide variety of hardware – including PCs, iPads, Chromebooks, 3D printers, and various assistive technologies – and software applications.
Dolgeville Central School is the hub of the community. The school is open nearly seven days per week year round and facilities are used by a large number of community organizations. Concerts, games, open houses, field days, and student assemblies are well attended and the District enjoys wide support from community members.
