DCS Board of Education Nominating Petition Information

In central school districts, candidates for the office of member of the Board of Education shall be nominated by petition.

Dolgeville Central School District residents are invited to file a nominating petition to be a Board of Education candidate in the upcoming election to be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2023.

Candidates must:

  • Be able to read and write.
  • Be a qualified voter of the District. A qualified voter of the District is a citizen of the United States, at least 18 years of age or older and not adjudged to be an incompetent.
  • Be and have been a resident of the District for a continuous and uninterrupted period of at least one year immediately before the election.
  • Have not been removed from any school district office within the preceding year.
  • Not reside with another member of the same school board as a member of the same family.
  • Not be a current employee of the school board.
  • Not simultaneously hold another incompatible public office.

The Nominating petition shall:

  • Be directed to the District Clerk.
  • State the name of the Candidate and the residence of the Candidate.
  • Be signed by at least 25 qualified voters of the district.
  • State the name and residence of each signer.
  • Be filed with the District Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 17, 2023.

This year the following vacancies are to be filled on the Board of Education:

  • A five (5) year term commencing on July 1, 2023 and expiring June 30, 2028, to fill the seat currently held by Julie Izzo.
  • A five (5) year term commencing on July 1, 2023 and expiring June 30, 2028, to fill the seat currently held by Jennifer Williams.
